Are You Ready for Some FOOTBALL!?!?

If you know me - you know I love football! It's the only good thing about summer coming to an end....it means that it's football season! WOOHOO!! More specifically - I love App football and Panther football....and anyone but Cowboys football! ;-)  I really really miss my Saturday's at App - waking up to the excitement of game day - getting together for some tailgating and the parties afterwards.....or in grad school, the studying in the library before kickoff with Becky!  This weekend I'm finally getting to see some App football action, although it'll be in Cullowhee, but I'm ready! Let's go boys! :-)  I have my App hoodie all ready to go!

I guess I have to admit the fact that the Panthers are not in top form this year.....in all honesty, they are barely a football team....but they're still my team - and I'm still gonna at least try and watch the games.  It's so sad b/c they just aren't there the past few years.  The 1-15 season was at least still a team that played the game - this season it's hard to watch b/c it's just sloppy playing.  But I still have hope - you've had a rest week Panthers, hope you come back strong this week!

I love putting on a jersey or hoodie with a comfy pair of jeans and playing corn hole to gear up for the game.  I love watching the kick off and all the energy.  I have to admit - that I enjoy watching some basketball games and will go to games - I'm a Tarheel fan BTW....but football is where my heart is.  And no, I do not like baseball.  It's just too slow of a game.  And there's just way too many games to keep up with.

But back to football - I've always liked it, but I think being in marching band was where I really feel in love with it.....all the Friday night games in high school with good friends and tons of fun - dancing and playing instruments...of course, the drum beats are my favorites! Nothing like a really good cadence to get you pumped up! ;-)  I think almost all of my high school memories are centered around marching band....and the drums!

I think my favorite part of marching at App was the pre-game sequence - I just love that! You come out strong with a great drum beat and it's so much fun and starts the game off right! I love all the traditions that go along with football - the chants and the fight songs - and the drum cadences....I get all excited just typing about it!! It's a Dog's Life.

I'm pretty sure if you're reading this - you know me - and you know my love for my babies....fur babies that is....I never planned to have 3 - and especially not in the townhouse that I currently live in....it just kind of evolved. But I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world!
 

It started out with Wally - Mike's chocolate lab when we met....at that point I was traveling for work and couldn't have a dog myself...that is, until I talked Mike into letting me get a dog and him taking care of him while I was gone....that's where Winston showed up - I found him on petfinder.com - which I visit frequently and do the clicks to help feed animals on a regular basis - and just had to have him! We drove down to S Augusta, SC and he was so adorable! He is definitely my dog - and loves to snuggle up in the blankets with me. He is part jack russell and I think part beagle - he can jump really high but kind of howls when he barks. So here we were - the 4 of us - all happy! Mike with his loyal dog and me with mine. Family complete.

 

Well....not quite....so Mike starts talking about how he likes english bulldogs and at first I was like - no way! But seriously, have you seen a bulldog puppy?!! OMG!! Puppies are a huge weakness of mine! LOVE THEM! Once I saw a few pictures, I was in love.....and I talked about how I wanted one too.....so instead of waiting until later in life - I get a surprise Christmas present around Thanksgiving 2008 - Wilbur.....also known as Wilb's....the cutest thing you have ever seen in your life! I mean - those wrinkles and that sweet face and he's so chill....it was love at first sight......for Mike and his buddy I mean.......that was Mike's dog from day one.....I had to fight to hold him!

So here we were - the 5 of us. Life is grand. Until one day, Wally just stopped eating. The dog that stole a steak off my counter top - stopped eating. Over the course of a few months, he lost a lot of weight and couldn't even keep water down. So we had to say good-bye to him. That is the saddest thing - and so hard to go thru. The tests, the vet visits, and then the pain of making that dreaded decision. I still really miss him. He was such an awesome dog. But, even knowing I'll have to go thru that most horrible time again, it's still worth the years together and the love of having a dog. So, here we are - October 2009, back to the 4 of us and Mike is in denial about Wilbur being his dog b/c it was "my Christmas present" and he thinks he needs a dog. That's where Walter, aka Walt Walt, comes into the picture......this extremely happy, lovable, adorable lab puppy.....that eats everything he sees....so now we're back to the Happy Five.

I love my boys - all of them - but sometimes - three dogs is a lot of work.....so far, in the past 7 days...both Wilb's and Walt have had diarrhea and had to get baths and much house cleaning is involved.....special thanks to my awesome Husband who does almost all of that hard work....but while I'm constantly fishing everything out of Walt's Walt's mouth - and re-arranging on the couch to make room for Winston - and doing whatever it is that Wilb's wants b/c what he wants, he gets - did I mention how cute he is, ;-)  I wouldn't give them up for anything! They're my babies and I love them and enjoy spending time with them.

Sunday is Wilbur's 2nd bday - so of course, they'll be getting doggie bday cake this weekend! :-)

Covering the Basics.

Hey. So, I've decided to try this out - not sure what I want to say or the focus to be.....I'm not a fabulous writer.....and my life.....well, not so exciting....but what the heck....I'll give it whirl. I have enjoyed following other people's blogs - some are very thoughtful and interesting.....this one probably won't be......but we shall see. :-)

I'm still learning how this works and setting everything up too....but I guess I should start out with my background.....hum.....born and raised in Charlotte and I love the South and everything Southern. I'm 27, married just over 2 years, 3 dogs. I love my boys - and I'm sure I'll write about them a good bit. I seriously have the cutest dogs in the world, just so you know. I grew up in Church and love the Lord, but not always certain of how I interpret things. I enjoy working out - it's the thing that clears my head and makes me feel like I can conquer anything. I'd like to lose a good 30-40 pounds, but struggle with my eating. I love football - esp the Panthers and Appalachian. I went to App for 5 yrs - got my masters in accounting and love App and the mtns, although I could not live there again. I'm more of a warm weather girl and love the beach. I have great friends that I enjoy spending time with but definitely do not get to see enough of. Which, my friend Tara helped with the name of the blog so I have to give her credit for that one! Thanks! :-)
